Research clearly identifies that female leaders influence the workplace differently from males. Historically, leadership has been defined by men as few women have had the opportunity to push through the "glass ceiling" and become the CEO. As songwriter Bob Dylan states, Times, they are a changin'. Dylan's lyrics, originally written as a statement during the Civil Rights movement in the mid 1960s, may be used again today as more and more females shatter the glass ceiling in Fortune 500 companies. Why is this happening? What characteristics do females bring to the table to enhance leadership?

A study conducted by Caliper, a Princeton, NJ based consulting firm working with both Fortune 500 companies and small entrepreneurs, found women leaders to be different from their male counterparts. The study revealed four major findings. Dr. Gould will highlight the findings of this research in her WBON presentation and equip female business leaders and entrepreneurs with tips for enhancing feminine leadership qualities.

Dr. Gould has been a life-long educator. She recently retired from Raymond Central Public Schools after 24 years with the district, serving 18 as elementary principal. She holds a B.S. in Health and Physical Education from Ursinus College, a Masters from The College of New Jersey, and a doctorate from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Educational Administration. She has presented to local, state and national organizations on a wide variety of topics. Currently she is doing adjunct work with Concordia University, serves as owner/innkeeper for Pine Crest Farms B&B in Valparaiso, and serves on numerous boards including Phi Delta Kappa and Nebraska Association of Bed and Breakfast. In her free time she enjoys her three grandchildren, swimming, golfing, reading, and cooking.
